Jeon Ju library remodel
The Jeon Ju City Hall library was an installation that had some unique features. The library houses over 100,000 books, which stretch from the floor to the soaring ceilings. It underwent a remodelling which included the addition of multimedia.
The requirements
The library required speech privacy and comfortable acoustics in its remodel. The space has a vaulted atrium with open spaces, mezzanine levels and reflective surfaces. This also included a floor-to-ceiling projector screen.
The installation
Installing a Soundmask system into the space required some careful planning. The high ceilings require a the use of a scissor lift, and the design had to take into account the different uses within the space.
Soundmask’s unique open area system was zoned to allow the adjustment of transducers to create an even spread of sound throughout the space.
The solution
With Soundmask’s system installed, library users can study, retrieve books, attend seminars and converse without disturbing others.
